In addition to St. John Vianney and Redemptoris Mater Seminaries in Denver supported seminarians are represented at a variety of other seminaries. These seminaries generally fall into one of two categories.
Collegiate Seminaries are seminaries that are also Colleges or Universities. These would be the locations that Seminarians would attend if they have discerned a vocation to the priesthood prior to receiving a college degree. For the Archdioces of Denver the Collegiate Seminary that their Seminarians attend is St. John Vianney College in St. Paul Minnesota, for the Diocese of Colorado Springs their Collegiate Seminarians attend St. Gregory the Great Seminary in Seward Nebraska. Several of the young men in formation in the Diocese of Pueblo are attending their undergraduate studies at CSU Pueblo and graduate work at St. Meinrad School of Theology in Indiana.
St. John Vianney Seminary in Denver has an age limitation of 35 year old. Any seminarian who is older than thirty five years old when they discern a vocation will not attend St. John Vianney in Denver. The Archdioces of Denver sends their older Seminarians to Blessed John XXIII Seminary in Weston Massachusetts, the Diocese of Colorado Springs send thier seminarians to the Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in St. Louis.
Finally some seminarians may go to specific seminaries to concentrate on specific studies, such as Cannon law. One of these Seminaries is the Pontifical College in Rome.
