Geoffrey Phelps
Seminarian for the Diocese of Colorado Springs
My name is Geoffrey Phelps.
I was born in England.
I was homeschooled all the way through high school. I graduated from high school in May of 2007 along with two other homeschoolers. The graduation Mass was celebrated by Bishop Sheridan, who also presented the diplomas. The Superintendent of Catholic Schools, Michelle Maher, announced the graduates and their future plans.
I graduated in May of 2008 with an Associate of Arts Degree in Foreign Language.
I was taught how to be an altar server by Fr. Boleslaw Kuzma and Fr. James Williams at St. Joseph’s Parish, where we went for daily Mass.
When I was about 12 years old, I was altar serving at Holy Apostles Parish and while I was serving I thought that maybe I should be a priest.
In December of 2006, I attended a vocations retreat, lead by Fr. James Williams, our diocesan vocation director, and Fr. Ricardo Coronado-Arrascue, our Chancellor, and decided to look at attending seminary. I went to Bishop Sheridan and told him of my desire to go to seminary. He told me to look at St. Gregory the Great Seminary in Nebraska. My family and I visited in March 2007. I am very excited about attending the seminary there.
I am a member of St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish.
