The Archdioces of Denver is the largest Doicese in the State of Colorado with Almost 150 parished. At present the Archidioces has approximately 75 Men in formation. These men are studying in one of four Seminaries.
The primary Seminary when men in formation for the Priesthood in Denver are studying is at the St. John Vianney Seminary. This Seminary is collocated with John Paul II center on Steel Street in Denver. The St. John Vianney Seminary is not a college seminary so the men who are attending this seminary come in with a College Degree. The standard course of study for a Seminarian at St. John Vianney is to first undergo a Spirituality Year, then have 2 years of Philosophy and finally 4 years of theology. During the final year of Theology the young men under formation are ordained as transitional deacons and work with a Parish in the Diocese. St. John Vianney is primarily directed to men who are recently out of college so there is an age limit of 40 years for admittance to St. John Vianney Seminary
The Second highest number of men under formation for the Archidioces of Denver study at the Redemptoris Mater Seminary, also Collocated with the John Paul II Center in Denver. The men under formation at Redemptoris Mater attend the same classes as the men from St. John Vianney. The main differences in the Seminaries is that the Redemptoris Mater Seminary is associated with the NeoCatechemunal Way. The Redemptrois Mater Seminary in Denver is one of over 75 Redemptoris Mater Seminaries around the world and the Seminarians come from all over the world and for those assigned during formation to Denver they will serve at the direction of the Archbishop of Denver for either work in the Archdiocese or as Missionaries in other parts of the world.
A number of Denver Seminarians study at the Blessed John XXIII Seminary in Mass, this Seminary is for men who have discerned their calling as they were into or beyond their thirties. This seminary is a nice mirror to the St. John Vianney seminary so that the Archdioces of Denver can accommodate men of any age who feel a calling to the Priesthood.
The final seminary where young men from the Archdiocese Denver are studying is St. John Vianney College in Minnesota. This is a College seminary so the man at this seminary have entered the seminary prior to attaining their college degree. Thus in addition to studying for the Priesthood these young men are also pursuing a college degree.
